Held in late May and early August, each six-day NIP week offers two program options, a Bookcamp manuscript workshop or a writer's retreat. May's All-Genre NIP is open to any writer of fiction and creative nonfiction. The August NIP is designed for writers of Speculative Fiction genres.

Each Bookcamp offers morning instruction, afternoon editing clinic, group critique sessions, discussions on the current publishing industry, one-on-one consultations with our staff, agent/editor pitch sessions, and additional presentations. An application screening process is used to enroll in the Bookcamp workshop.

The Writing Retreat provides plenty of individual writing time, the editing clinic, a Retreat Mentor offering encouragement or advice, and options to attend group critique sessions and Bookcamp presentations.

One registration fee includes programming, overnight accommodations, and all meals. Bookcamp enrollments are limited to 15 writers. Registration for the Writing Retreat is also restricted. Private overnight accommodations are reserved on a first-come/first-served basis. Shared room options also available, and commuter registrants are accepted.

The NIP Bookcamp & Writing Retreat is held at a 100-acre rural retreat center, Cedar Valley UCCI, (https://www.ucci.org/cedar-valley/), 35 miles northwest of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Bookcamps and Writing Retreats are owned by the Novel-In-Progress Bookcamp & Writing Retreat, Inc., a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit corporation.
