ladi ksidi Transp Ancient olympia hotelHave you ever wanted to holiday in a place with a wealth of history, culture, natural beauty while enjoying the hands-on experience of learning  to cook the local food? Or do you dream of extending yourself by developing your creative writing skills?

Maybe the artist in you is looking for expression?  We are now in the position to offer you the  opportunity of theses experiences.

Cookery classes are organized by Susanna, an Australian who settled in Ancient Olympia thirty years ago, during which time she has been fully  involved in the hotel and restaurant, subsequently opening her own catering business. She has a long list of satisfied clients who come to the area from all over Greece. In 2004, for example, her clients included the President and Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic and the  organisers of the Athens Olympic Games. During the five-day cookery course, Susanna wishes to convey the respect she has for the traditional Greek recipes that have been passed from generation  to generation, and to emphasise the desire she has to use natural produce. Classes begin each morning in the hotel kitchen and the results of the lessons, accompanied by local wines, are savoured in the courtyard at  lunchtime.

Creative writing classes are conducted by Gillian Bouras, a teacher, freelance journalist and writer. She has lived in a Peloponnesian village for twenty-five years, her journalism has been published in five countries, and she has written six books. She believes that the nurturing of creativity is essential to the good  life; she also believes that writing can be a healing exercise. There is a book or a poem in everyone; let Gillian help you  deliver your words to the world! Classes are very much participant-directed, and the only prerequisite is a burning desire to write. There is a mixture of discussion, formal exercises and group and teacher-assessment. Stimuli for lessons may be at the archaeological site or in the museums or at other points in the inspiring town of Ancient Olympia, the ideal  place  in which to find your particular Muse.
