Sanibel Island Writers Conference

November 3-6, 2016

Participants at all stages of development—from notebook scribblers to published novelists—are invited to attend the 2016 Sanibel Island Writers Conference, being held November 3-6 at Big Arts Performance Center and the Sanibel Island Public Library. The conference is open to any aspiring writer who wants to create new work or refine a project already in progress.

We offer a variety of morning workshops in fiction, poetry, screenwriting, songwriting, journalism, children's literature, memoir, and creative nonfiction; afternoon panels on publishing, editing, obtaining an agent, collaborative writing, marketing, and the creative process; and nightly readings, keynote address, and concerts—all presented by celebrated and experienced writers and teachers. We encourage all registrants to attend the entire conference, from morning writing exercises to nighttime cocktail hours.

For an additional fee, participants also have the opportunity to meet privately with a writer or editor to discuss (a maximum) 10 pages of a pre-submitted manuscript. We have 150 openings for the conference itself; however, space for individual manuscript consultations is very limited, so act fast!

We go out of our way to recruit workshop leaders & presenters who are both excellent, acclaimed artists as well as generous, accessible teachers. Past attendees have described our workshops "interactive, "intensive," "nurturing," "informative," "fun" and "stimulating."

For more info about our presenters, schedule, workshops, location, local airports, lodgings, general registration and manuscript consultations, visit our website at www.fgcu.edu/siwc.
