Let us do all the planning and leg work while you further develop your skills, uninterrupted. Come and eat, sleep and drink in photography. Workshops offer a great opportunity to not only practice, but learn more about your gear, other available equipment, the location, environment and people. In our workshops you'll learn how to make your camera dance to your tune!
We stress the importance of visual sensitivity, the art of seeing, technical knowledge, researching your subject and viewing it from different perspectives. We demonstrate the unlimited effects of the art of design in composition stressing the use of natural light. We encourage experimentation with creative uses of equipment such as filters, diffusers and reflectors along with the use of color, balance and placement. We introduce close-up/macro photography, plus much more.
Our workshops maintain a comfortable, unintimidating atmosphere promoting camaraderie and sharing. We provide home-cooked meals whenever possible. During two of the West Virginia workshops meals are served at our get-away cabin.
We have been conducting workshops as a team for 24 years but Bill started several years prior. We are published, have taught at the University of Richmond, Va., and have customized workshops for universities, photography-related groups, and the State of Virginia's Department of Parks and Recreation.
Last workshop for 2017 is Chincoteague on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in November. Always a wonderful time. Good variety of subjects and a great opportunity to practice shooting birds. Join us as we work with you in the field from before sunrise until after sunset. We'll prove that conquering your camera is not rocket science and that understanding exposure and light is the key to exciting images. 2018 Workshops
