Who You Travel With Makes a World of Difference

Throughout our history, AMNH has launched expeditions across seven continents, mapping the origin and progression of life on this planet and exploring the richness and variety of world cultures. Museum log books are laden with reports from Franz Boas in the North Pacific, Barnum Brown in the American West, Roy Chapman Andrews in Asia, Theodore Roosevelt in South America, Robert Peary at the North Pole, Carl Akeley in Africa, and Margaret Mead in the South Pacific.

These intrepid scientists and adventurers are the inspiration behind AMNH Expeditions. Designed for those who yearn for an in-depth educational experience in the field, the tours enable travelers to embark on their own explorations of the world in the company of AMNH scientists, educators, and curators. These unique programs feature smaller groups, provide a combination of study, adventure, and leisure activities, and often include exclusive access and special entrée not often found on larger tours.

What AMNH Travelers Say
“We had several special surprises—such as our farewell dinner with Mrs. Anwar Sadat at her Cairo residence—which were just the icing on a beautiful cake. Chas. & Karen Goetz, Egypt: Treasures of Pharaohs

“The Trip was everything we hoped for, but I think the highlight was the people we were traveling with.” Eliza & Sibley Biederman, The Galapagos Islands
